Convergencias exhibition to explore Cuban design

Explored several works by Cuban designers gonzalo córdoba and luis ramírez.

The factoria habana gallery recently held an exhibition exploring the works of Cuban designers gonzalo córdoba and luis ramírez, most of which were developed on the basis of Cuban production centres. The exhibition entitled "convergencias" was curated by concha fontenla, using 3D designs, prototypes, photography, objects, furniture and installations to depict the diversity and richness of the two creators. The two designers range from interior design, furniture, lighting, pottery, etc. The exhibition uses a variety of exhibits to show visitors the attention to tradition and materials in use, while the work is highly focused on everyday objects. The current atmosphere is precisely the atmosphere that transforms the form and use of goods into a propagator of Cuban culture.

The exhibition will start on June 15 and will last until September 15. The exhibition invites visitors to explore the designs of the two designers gonzalo córdoba and luis ramírez, whose works are inspired by the Cuban production center. The Cuban revolutionary celia sanchez decided to combine the original studio with the new studio to create EMPROVA (empresa de producciones varias), which became the best work of gonzalo córdoba from the 1970s to the 1990s. Similarly, ramírez's creative work originally originated from the obrapia wood studio and has since expanded.

“convergencias” is the first of the three trilogy of the exhibition entitled “in itinere”, followed by the exhibitions “divergencias” and “conexiones”, which will also be the “intersecciones” launched by factoria habana. Part of the participation in the Havana Biennale in 2019, so stay tuned.
