The naked Castle Is a Luxury Resort in a Converted Mountaintop Castle

Source:hypebeast

Originally built more than 100 years ago.

Built by a Scottish missionary over 100 years ago, this castle in Moganshan collapsed in the 1960s and had been derelict for almost half a century. The castle was discovered by naked Retreats in 2007, and a long running restoration began as the company turned the missionary castle into a new luxury resort.

The architects behind the project were tasked with restoring the castle in a way that respected the surrounding environment and its history. Throughout the build, the design team focused on local materials — including recycled wood and traditional techniques — in order to make sure the castle didn’t stick out.

Key features of the redesigned building include large windows offering views from the mountaintop, an outdoor pool that hangs over the cliff edge and a natural interior. Take a look at the naked Castle in the gallery above.
