IKEA plans to recycle old furniture within a time limit

IKEA furniture chain company plans to recycle old furniture in 27 countries and regions from November to early December

The Swedish IKEA furniture chain company plans to recycle old furniture in 27 countries and regions from November to early December, and use shopping vouchers to buy back IKEA old furniture from consumers.

The Associated Press reported that IKEA announced on the 13th that it would carry out a "repurchase" program from November 24 to December 3, and participate in Western countries' "Black Friday" promotion activities on November 27, while reducing waste and committed to environmental protection.

Consumers interested in participating can take photos of their old IKEA furniture, upload them to the IKEA website and make a preliminary estimate. Consumers who confirm the transaction need to deliver the furniture to the IKEA store by themselves. The furniture to be recycled must be assembled by the consumer.

IKEA will set a recycling price based on the actual condition of the furniture, and recycle old furniture that is "as new" at 50% of the original price; furniture that is "very good" and "fully used" will be recycled at 40% and 30% of the original price, respectively . IKEA will pay in the form of equal shopping coupons. These shopping vouchers can only be used in IKEA stores and have no validity period.

IKEA said that it will carry out "repurchase" projects in 27 countries and regions around the world, and the repurchase will be limited to furniture such as cabinets, chairs, benches, desks and dining tables without fabric decoration. IKEA plans to open a store specializing in second-hand furniture in a shopping center in western Stockholm within this year, and will start adding second-hand furniture sales areas in all stores next year.
