Natuzzi, the Made in Italy design brand best known in the world among luxury goods consumers (source IPSOS-Lagardère), returns to the Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2016, presenting the new Natuzzi Italia collection and its latest innovations for the living, bedroom and dining areas: over 20 new models – including sofas, beds, tables and chairs – compose a seamless path to immerse in and savor the style which has always distinguished the brand.

In addition to furniture, the sets presented in Milan will be enriched by new proposals of accessories including lamps, tables, coffee tables, rugs and vases.

Within the booth, therefore, visitors can explore the different areas of the home, each with its own defined character, yet all sharing a vision which allows the integration of the best sellers of the collections with new products that the company develops each year. All of this is possible thanks to the work of the Natuzzi Style Centre, who follows the development of each and every product, always keeping in mind the company's DNA.

THE NEW SOFAS

One of the newcomers to the Natuzzi Italia catalog is Ido, designed by Mauro Lipparini. Its clean, well-defined lines are punctuated by an intersection of a number of elements that complement the levity of its elegant metallic feet. It also features the unique “kissed” stitching, folded inward to make it invisible on the outside. The sofa comes with a number of accessory elements, horizontal and vertical, cubic and basic. These elements combine, both esthetically and functionally, to enliven different narratives. The Ido coffee tables, available also as card tables, end tables, side tables and support surfaces, develop naturally from their light and slender metallic legs, resulting in a flowing structure that can be matched effortlessly with various styles of sofas and armchairs. It’s a perfect finishing touch to a living room, serving as an immediate support for top-notch esthetic solutions.

La Scala sofa is a contemporary reinterpretation of the classic Chester model. A masterpiece of craftsmanship, it is characterized by the sinuous lines that wrap around the quilting detail and by its comfort, guaranteed by the fine padding inserted in the enveloping back and deep seat.

Other new sofas include Herman, Jeremy and Agorà by Studio Memo.

NEW PRODUCTS IN THE LIVING AREA

The Plissè bookcase is the backdrop to this set. Designed by Victor Vasilev and taking inspiration from the nineteenth-century separé style, this model exhibits a visual lightness that masks a robust structure built from modular panels, held together with supporting brackets. Versatility is the element that sets it apart from the competition – clean, sleek and elegant design make this piece a rather “mobile” element, adaptable to different spatial setups.

The Vico lamp, also designed by Victor Vasilev, is a luminescent sculpture in every sense, and packs a powerful visual punch. Its delicate, rounded spaces embody the purity of its lines and its presence in space. The essence of this model is rooted in the balance between its base and its head, which appears to be suspended above the structure. This model is available in various metallic finishes, which punctuate the design.

Other accessories for the living area include the armchairs Rose and Ambra, the Meridio coffee table set and the Mira lamp.

NEW PRODUCTS IN THE DINING AREA

Natuzzi's new dining area products are represented by the Leggero collection, designed by Victor Vasilev. An elegant ensemble that makes lightness of form its strong point, Leggero is Vasilev’s homage to Giò Ponti, the undisputed master architect and industrial designer. This furniture family, composed by the Leggero dining table and the Lisa armchair, has discovered its raison d’etre by eliminating superfluous elements, allowing it to achieve a unique sense of dynamic levity. Leggero is a table that features precise, geometric design, with a slender structure concealing a solid and resilient soul in an expression of lightness and artisan know-how. Its simplicity and purity of form make it adaptable to any surrounding. Lisa features long wooden legs and a curvilinear backrest, framing a soft and comfortable chair with a unique esthetic sophistication. In the new collection also the Leggero dining set by Victor Vasilev composed by the Leggero table and the chair and armchair Lisa. New pieces include the containers of the Accademia collection by Bernhardt & Vella.

NEW PRODUCTS IN THE BEDROOM AREA

Proportions typical of the 1950s are resurrected by Studio Memo’s architects Manzoni and Tapinassi in the Svevo set, which includes the bed, chair, nightstands and bedroom storage. The Svevo bed is the first of the Natuzzi collection to become an integral part of a total living design. The characteristic wooden legs coupled to metal inserts elegantly support the structure, while the large bed frame and headboard are generously sized for guarantee of convenience and comfort.

The collection is characterized by rounded and embracing shapes and for the structure of the feet in solid wood with precious metal details. Besides the sofa already in the collection, Studio Memo developed a series of furniture mixing shapes and materials. Glass is used on console, sideboard and chest of drawers to highlight the horizontal surfaces.

THE RELAX AREA

Comfort, design and softness are the guiding principles for the new Ilia armchair recliner, designed by Mauro Lipparini. Thanks to its reassuring and embracing shape, this structure is visually pleasing, and the extra softness achieved by Natuzzi’s research center by combining two layers of high-density foam with an innovative material, typically used in the textile industry and now being applied in the furniture industry, provides the perfect finishing touch. The wooden base, available in different finishes, is a veritable shell, which connects with its electronic extendable footrests and supports its armrests. Edges are elegantly finished with a grosgrain trim. Ilia is one-of-a-kind model whose design enhances its ergonomics and the level of comfort typically found in recliner armchairs.

GENERAL INFO

CONCEPT
The concept on which the 2017 collection was conceived is harmony: harmony among objects and people that makes Natuzzi a “harmony maker”; the soul of Natuzzi Italia is the meeting of these two words. The word harmony identifies a concept, is abstract, aspirational; maker however, is the reality, the craftsmanship, the know-how. The harmony that Natuzzi exports in the world is born from the inspirations of its homeland, Apulia: a crossroads of cultures and influences which, over the years, were merged creating a lifestyle and a way of understanding relaxation which the brand has been able to turn into a product and successfully export all over the world.

MOOD
The home imagined by Natuzzi is an elegant and harmonious place, where furnishings blend discreetly with the architecture. The Natuzzi world revolves around the comfort of upholstered furniture – sofas and beds – and around the conviviality of the dining area. Comfort and conviviality are, in fact, central points of that Italian style which Natuzzi has represented in the furniture world for over half a century.

The mix of colors and materials selected by the Natuzzi Style Centre creates suffused environments, warm and welcoming that bring to all homes the extent of elegance, the detail and quality of Made in Italy. Natuzzi style, which is born from the integration of design, shapes, colors and function, is found in the displays of Salone 2016, a natural place for expressing the best.

COLORS
The Natuzzi Italia 2017 collection finds its maximum level of expression in the new colors developed by the Natuzzi Style Centre, a chromatic philosophy based on perfectly neutral and intense colors that underline and emphasize each other.

The palette of perfectly neutral stems from an evolution of the combination of required colors until you reach the ideal shade. Neutral gradations welcome new colors and shades: white, brown and taupe – the main color of the collection – are joined by even more perfect shades of gray, camel, brick, ocean blue and ottanio. The choice of this harmonious contrast causes the neutral tones to give the rooms a sense of peace, while the vibrant colors emphasize the shapes of the furnishings, helping to impart a mildly sharp look with a nod to the most contemporary trends.

MATERIALS
The new colors are enhanced by the different materials in which they are used, especially in coatings. Over fifty years of experience with leather, and the constant research of new coatings play a decisive role in the creation of the perfect neutral. The incessant selection of the best leather and natural fabrics is made depending on the color: the materials are not hosting the color, but become the ideal stage to express its full potential. Fifteen different types of leather, available in 93 colors, and twenty-seven types of fabrics, available in 151 colors, together create unique chromatic chords. A proposal of timeless style, a modern less-is-more where clean lines and pure forms become milestones in this path towards harmony.

To padded coatings they combine metals – chrome and satin – in the warmest tones and finishes, and materials for accessories, lighting and the details of sofas and armchairs; stones and marbles chosen to represent a suffused, never excessive luxury; woods such as oak and walnut reminiscent of natural and earthy colors.

The combination of all the materials and finishes are selected to offer a harmonious total living, consistent with the DNA of the brand.

COLLABORATIONS WITH DESIGNERS
The strength of Natuzzi lies in contamination between different ideas and feelings, a way to always put people and human relationships at the center of the production philosophy of the company, and to seize the inspiration coming from the most diverse realities. To interpret the philosophy of living Natuzzi Italia, the brand invited designers Maurizio Manzoni and Roberto Tapinassi of Studio Memo, Victor Vasilev, Claudio Bellini, Mauro Lipparini, Bernhardt & Vella to participate. All the designers work closely with the stylist Pasquale Natuzzi and the Style Centre that has developed a cosiderable part of the pieces shown.
