A Chinese sponsor of the French football team, who promised his customers a "total refund" of their purchases in case of victory of the Blues at the World Cup-2018, saw his action dive 50% in one month.

The kitchen appliance manufacturer Vatti has been a partner of the French Football Federation (FFF) since March. As such, he can use the image of the selection in his promotional campaigns in China.

"If the team of France is champion, Vatti offers a total refund", thus proclaimed an advertisement released by the company late May on the internet and in newspapers.

For any purchase between 1 and 30 June of a "champion package", the company agrees to "return the full amount" spent. The refund would cover a set of four articles with a total value of 16,100 yuan (2,070 euros).

The advertisement was presented in the form of a solemn contract, with the official seal, date and signature of the CEO. Another version includes the same slogan surmounting photos of Antoine Griezmann, Kylian Mbappé or Paul Pogba.

"The amount to repay could be very important, but it was included in our annual budget, it will not have huge consequences on the company," said in early July Wang Zhaozhao, a representative of Vatti, the daily newspaper China Securities Journal.
