IKEA recall 124 Sladda bikes in China after two injured due to design flaw

After the accident of IKEA dramer Malm series, Sladda bikes made an other tragedy.

May 2017, Ikea has recalled its famous series of dramer— Malm who has took 9 children's live in total. 

 

 

Recently, those Swedish furniture giant IKEA, with always a good reputation among 80's, 90's Chinese people, has initiated a global recall of its Sladda bicycle, after at least two cases of injuries to do a design fault. 

 

 

This Sladda bicycle has sold 124 in China's mainland. Before that, there are 11 accidents reported globally because of a faulty chain on the bicycle, of which two led to minor injuries. No injuries have been reported because of the fault in China.

 

IKEA (China) has submitted a recall plan to the Shanghai Quality and Technical Supervision Bureau, and the recall is valid till November 23, the bureau said on Friday. The recalled bicycles were produced between 2016 and 2018.

 

The eight-millimeter-wide chain may break suddenly due to failure of compatibility with the front and back wheels, and cyclists may fall off in such an event.

 

All IKEA outlets in China have ceased sales of the bicycle because the chain can not be replaced. 

 

All recalled Sladda bike owners will be offered a full refund.
