On October 17, IKEA (China) Investment Co., Ltd. won a commercial land to the south side of Fujin Street, Zhongbei Town, Tianjin at the starting price of 198 million RMB. The chain retailer is go to build the second store in Tianjin, the important North China city close to Beijing. The construction will be commenced in April, 2017 and the store is estimated to be open in the middle of 2018.

The overall construction area of this commercial land is about 60,000m2. According to the speak person of IKEA Headquarters, Tianjin, with its great location, large population and logistics resource, is one of the cities with large consumption potential following Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, therefore IKEA has sufficient confidence in another success in Tianjin. More shopping convenience of the residents in Tianjin was mainly taken into consideration for site selection of the second Ikea in Tianjin which will mainly serve northwest district of Tianjin and the proposed retail area is about 36,000m2.
