Pearl River Delta Industrial District of Furniture  

 

Centered in the cities Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Shunde and Foshan of Guangdong Province, it is the largest industrial district of furniture in China. Adjacent to Hong Kong, China and Macao, the district is rich in labor resources, with a head start of furniture making, abundant industrial clusters, complete industry supply chain, developed sales market and obvious brand advantages. Furniture output value accounts for one third of China, and products are mainly exported to American markets.

 

As a leading furniture production and sales area, Guangdong Province makes the best of its advantages and applies modern information technology to continuously transform and improve technological level of furniture industry and keep production and sales advantages in the industry. Houjie Town of Dongguan is most famous for its furniture production and exhibition services; Shunde District of Foshan has become a base integrating furniture production, sales, supporting services and wholesale; Lecong Town has become the largest furniture distributing center in China; Dalingshan of Dongguan and Longjiang of Foshan have become key towns of making furniture and supporting materials.

 

Yangtze River Delta Industrial District of Furniture

 

Centered in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai Provinces, it is the district with the fastest growth of furniture. The district is filled with developed information, convenient traffic, profound regional cultural accumulation, good manufacturing foundation and concentrated human resources. Its furniture market has a greater capacity, higher product quality and grade and good enterprise operation and management. Furniture output value also accounts for one third of China. Export sales are dominant, and Europe and America is its main export market.

 

Taking Zhejiang Province for example, in recent years, the furniture industry in Zhejiang is characterized by rapidly expanded scale, outstanding structural adjustment, obvious blocky pattern, rich marketing models, and heightened brand awareness. Moreover, the nine industrial districts with regional characteristics have been formed, namely, Hangzhou's office furniture and Xiaoshan's outdoor furniture for export, Wenzhou's modern panel furniture, Yuhuan's classical furniture in European style, Anji's swivel chair, Shaoxing's soft mattress, Yiwu and Huzhou's traditional redwood furniture, Ningbo's cabinet furniture, Haining's export sofa furniture and Jiashan's export solid wood furniture.  

 

Circum-Bohai-Sea Furniture Industrial District

 

Centered in Beijing, the district influences Tianjin, Hebei and Shandong Provinces and develops depending on Bohai Economic Rim. The district has a long-standing furniture making history, abundant resources and good location. The furniture enterprise scale and consumer groups are greater with extensive mature furniture professional sales market and furniture marketing enterprises, and the industry chain perfects increasingly. The products mainly depend on domestic markets.

 

In the industrial district, two featured furniture bases in Hebei Province, namely, Xianghe and Shengfang, have laid a foundation for Hebei-style furniture in China, especially, Shengfang's fiberglass furniture enjoys a good reputation in China and sells well in the Southeast Asia. With certain regional advantages, the furniture enterprises in Beijing know local market demands, which are great at utilizing home furnishing stores' chain characteristics to expand brand influence. In Shandong Province, Jinan will be proposed to be a key development area of upholstered furniture, solid wood furniture and panel furniture, and the industrial cluster advantage will also be exploited to improve its overall level and competitive force.

 

Northeast China Furniture Industrial District

 

The district is focused on Shenyang – Dalian line to influence Northeast China old industrial base like Heilongjiang Province. Relying on the abundant timber resources in Greater Khingan and Lesser Khingan Mountains and wood imported from Russia to make solid wood furniture, the production strength of solid wood furniture enterprises plays a leading role in China. Furniture is mainly exported to Northeast Asia and European markets, while the domestic market share is relatively less.

 

Shenyang furniture market is not only the furniture distributing center in Liaoning, but also a distributing center in Northeast China, even Inner Mongolia, for which, the strategic construction of "Capital of China Solid Wood Furniture" is implemented. Zhuanghe of Dalian has the largest solid wood furniture export production base in China, initially forming intensive and clustering development modes, different product types and complete equipment. Heilongjiang has basically built the furniture manufacturing industry cluster led by the cities of Harbin, Qiqihar, Kiamusze, Yichun, Qitaihe, Mudanjiang and surrounding areas, where the diversified product structure depending on solid wood furniture and panel furniture has been established.

 

West China Furniture Industrial District

 

The district takes Chengdu, Sichuan Province as the key development area, and furniture products are provided for third markets in central and western regions. The local government lists furniture industry as the pillar industry and gives more support. Besides preferential policies issued, the government also timely solves problems of land acquisition, loan and employment for furniture enterprises.

 

By virtue of mature and convenient logistics foundation, the industrial district is preferred by coastal enterprises. In addition, the demand for with the development of inland cities, the demands for furniture are increasing, so that the local furniture industry undertakes industrial gradient transfer of coastal region step by step during development.
