IKEA China is recalling three ceiling lights over fears that the glass shade could fall.

More than 352,800 LOCK, HYBY and RINNA ceiling lights have been sold to consumers in the Chinese mainland since 2002, according to the Swedish furniture giant.

"IKEA has received customer reports of ceiling light glass shades coming off. In a few cases medical treatment was required and one customer reportedly needed stitches," it said in an announcement.

IKEA has submitted a recall plan to the Shanghai Quality Inspection and Supervision Bureau. The sales of these light shades have been stopped, and initial investigation showed that plastic clip chips, due to long years of use, are the cause for it.

There have also been complaints of the glass shade cracking during installation itself.

HYBY and LOCK lights were sold at all IKEA outlets, while RINNA ceiling lights were sold in 11 European countries and China since 2010.

Consumers can get a full refund at any IKEA outlet but they will have to produce receipts, IKEA China said.

The recall will last till June 9.
