IKEA earns RMB 10.5 Billion in China and will open 3 new stores in 2016

IKEA achieved excellent performance in Chinese market in 2015 with an increase of sales revenue of 18% and 10% of comparable market sales growth, thus fulfilling the record-breaking sales revenue of RMB 10.5 billion.

 

Against the tough times of retail industry, IKEA, the tycoon of home furnishing bucks the trend and sees certain achievements. According to the latest sales data of IKEA in 2015 released on September 14, IKEA sees €31.9 billion of sales revenue in 2015, an increase of 11.2% in Euro and 8.9% in the whole after exclusion of exchange rate factor. The same-store sales growth rate is 5.1%. According to Peter Agnefjaell, global CEO of IKEA, IKEA is expected to open stores in Guangzhou, Suzhou and Chengdu, China in the following fiscal year and by 2020 there will be 34 stores of IKEA in China.

According to data, the sales of IKEA in Chinese market and the comparable market sales is increased by more than 18% and 10% respectively in 2015, achieving a record revenue of RMB 10.5 billion. In terms of expansion in China, IKEA reveals that new stores have been opened in Wuhan, Hangzhou and Xi'an in 2015 and the expansion trend will be maintained in the future.

The Chinese market has maintained the fastest growth momentum, followed by Russia. The German market witnesses the record-breaking increase and the North American market continues to see satisfactory results. Even the South European market also shows the development trend of positive growth. In general, IKEA has achieved solid growth in major markets and only few are confused by challenging economic situation in individual markets.

The trips surpassing 75 million to 18 IKEA stores in China made all IKEA employees infinitely proud. In 2015, members of Ikea Family increased by 42%, reaching 13.50 million. Meanwhile, 53 million of page views to IKEA official website indicated an increase of 52.5% compared with that last year.
