Cooperation between China National Furniture Association and Swedish Wood

China National Furniture Association and Swedish Wood launched the project of "Swedish Wood · New Furniture · In China" and "Design for Sustainable Life

 

In recent years, the China National Furniture Association has enhanced cooperation and exchange with organizations in the industry of other states in the world and built a higher international platform for Chinese furniture firms in order to better promote the international level of our furniture industry and advance technology, design, management and product transformation and upgrade in the furniture industry.

 

At the end of 2014, China National Furniture Association and Swedish Wood launched the project of "Swedish Wood · New Furniture · In China" and "Design for Sustainable Life". In the project, Swedish excellent timber suppliers supplied timber, China National Furniture Association and Swedish Wood recommended furniture designers or corporate designers to make product design by Swedish timber and Chinese outstanding furniture makers were selected to make production. Its products featured sense of design, durability, environmental protection, comfort, high quality and mass production, which were sold and promoted on a global scale by expo, press conference etc.

 

As a key activity in the project on May 4-9, 2015, a 26-member Swedish project delegation of China National Furniture Association, well-known designers and principals of furniture makers departed for Sweden and jointly completed survey and discussion activities with Swedish Wood.

 


  
Mr. Jan Soderlind, Chairman of European Wood and Director of International Affairs of Swedish Wood, and other personnel warmly welcomed the delegation and led them to pay a visit to Wood and Forest Product of the SCA Timber and Bogrundet Botanic Cultivation Garden, which is the largest forest nursery in Europe and got to know the concept of "sustainability" and forest management from source.

 

 

The delegation visited Bollsta (a typical automatic saw mill in Sweden) and got to know the transition from raw materials to materials for a variety of furniture. They visited Nybergs träteam -, which is a family firm that makes IKEA clothes closets by Pinus densiflora.

 


 

The delegation headed for Institute of Design, Umea University, which is a top institute of industrial design, transport design and interactive design in Europe, where its professors made splendid speeches, introduced experience and content of European industrial design and guided the delegation to visit.

 

 

The delegation visited Swedish IKEA Hedlunda Production Line that primarily manufactured Nornäs series of furniture. Meanwhile, they visited Swedish forests, got to know modernized sawmilling process and experienced traditional forest life in Sweden.

 

 

According to Mr. Jan Soderlind, Chairman of European Wood and Director of International Affairs of Swedish Wood, he was very pleased to cooperate with the China National Furniture Association and facilitate this year's cooperation project. Swedish Wood is expected to make more efforts to enable Chinese consumers to know about Swedish timber, which is why this year's project chooses to work together with Chinese well-known furniture designers and well-known furniture firms. Swedish SCA breeds 100 million seedlings per year, accounting for 25% of the gross forest in Sweden and making a huge contribution to sustainable development of Swedish timber.

 

The Swedish survey series of activities have been successfully held, marking that the project of "Swedish Wood · New Furniture · In China" and "Design for Sustainable Life" jointly sponsored by the China National Furniture Association and Swedish Wood has made phased achievements. Through series of seminars, conferences, visits and surveys, Chinese furniture makers have been able to learn about the characteristics and sustainability of Swedish timber and firm their confidence of applying Swedish timber designs and products and ultimately rolling them out on the Chinese market. Through series of design lectures, studies and visits, Chinese furniture designers have been able to fully understand design styles and fashion trends in Northern Europe and familiarize themselves with techniques of applying Swedish timber to product surface design, technical treatment etc., which will have a positive impact on future development orientations in furniture design.
