China-based furniture company Homestar Light Industrial Co. is establishing its North American headquarters in Statesville, bringing 120 jobs.

Subsidiary Homestar North America acquired the assets of the former Talon Systems plant at 607 Meacham Road in Statesville. The company is investing $7 million and plans to increase employment at the 310,000-square-foot facility from 40 to 160 by the end of 2015, according to a statement from Statesville Regional Development.

Homestar makes ready-to-assemble furniture. Products are sold through IKEA, Black and Decker and Akada Home.

“In addition to the manufacturing jobs, the headquarters operation will bring high-paying sales, marketing, engineering, management and design positions that pay, on average, $50,000 per year,” said Michael Smith, executive director of Statesville Regional Development, a public-private partnership that promotes the area.
