(Editor: Leona) UBM, organiser of furniture and interiors trade events including May Design Series, is celebrating a string of successful autumn events held across the globe, stating that Furniture China, Decorex International, Index Fairs India and Sleep all exceeded expectations in 2014.
Furniture China closed its doors on 14th September following a successful edition, attracting 98,401 visitors (a 15.34% increase year-on-year), including 22% attendees from overseas. An impressive 2685 Chinese furniture exhibitors displayed their latest products at the Shanghai exhibition, alongside over 300 companies from overseas.
Decorex International, which this year returned to its former home at Syon Park, was held in September and attracted 12,500 visitors. The event welcomed over 400 exhibitors, a third of which were new to the growing event, which was the biggest Decorex yet in terms of square metres.
Index Fairs India was held from 9-12th October at the MMRDA Exhibition Centre, Mumbai. The four-day event saw 25,000 trade buyers from across the retail and contract communities visit exhibitors showcasing interior products including furniture, lighting, kitchen and bathroom, flooring and office fittings.
Rounding up UBM’s international portfolio of autumn events was Sleep, the UK hotel design event, which took place at the Business Design Centre in November. Sleep attracted 4000 visitors across two days thanks to its 150 exhibitors, plus features such as the Sleep Set concept rooms.
With an international repertoire of expertly organised interiors events as part of UBM’s global portfolio, the team behind May Design Series plans to draw upon these resources to deliver the first full-scale edition of the event next year.
Suzie Ager, brand director for May Design Series, comments: “I am proud of our domestic and international colleagues for delivering such hugely successful events. It is invaluable to have the weight of UBM’s prowess behind May Design Series, and the vast network of global contacts our colleagues around the world provide, and we intend to draw upon this to deliver a commercially-focused and truly international show in 2015.”
May Design Series will take place from 17-19th May 2015 at ExCeL London.
