From 10-14 September 2014, the China International Furniture Expo (Furniture China 2014) will hold its 20th anniversary at Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) and Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center (SWEECC). The past twenty years for Chinese furniture industry has been a challenge but very rewarding. This period has witnessed continuous development of the entire Chinese furniture industry and its sustained annual growth of more than 15%. An excess of 1.2 trillion Yuan has been reached with furniture exports over USD 53 billion. As a leading international exhibition, Furniture China provides an efficient platform boosting such progress and development, adapting to current trends and pursuing a higher quality for the utmost in lifestyle expectations.
The exhibition further intends to provide a reliable impression to global buyers, with 2,500 companies from 26 countries and regions at 350,000 exhibition area. There are about 220 foreign exhibitors which will showcase their offerings. The national pavilions have added Korea to its list this year, exhibiting together with France, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. It is worth mentioning that the Brazilian and Polish furniture brands will join for the first time at Furniture China 2014. Well-known domestic mainstream furniture companies will also be prominent including Kuka, Man Wah, Sikexin, Mengying, Sleemon, Zuoyou and Kinwai, and continue to actively participate in the exhibition.
In the new era of furniture development, creative design has become an indispensable element to elevate the essence of a successful exhibition. The Design Hall will impress industry players with its expansion up to two indoor exhibiting halls — Hall W4 for Brand Design and Hall W5 for Original Design, gathering not only 106 exhibitors bringing their innovative products but also fresh design concepts covering 16 international design brands from Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, India, Thailand, Australia, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany and the United States. Home Plus is the most noteworthy highlight in Hall E4, which is cooperated with Architectural Digest and will feature distinctive lifestyles in several designed spaces that tailor to a person’s lifestyle preference at different periods of his life. On the other hand, to encourage original designs, the organizer is partnering with Elle Decoration to launch the Gold Idea Furniture Design Award of China, and invite Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of the Red Dot Award, as the president of the jury.
This year Design of Designers (DOD) will move to the #3 Entrance Hall of SNIEC for a presentation of design works from 60 talented designers. Nearly half of them are cutting-edge designers whose furniture designs are highly anticipated. Concurrently during the exhibition, a series of design forums are scheduled with an agenda aimed to foster communication between these inspiring thoughts. In SWEECC, the “100 Sofa Show” — a specially themed show will feature sourcing for better fabric, and 100 new designs of fabric sofas will be presented in Hall 4, accompanying a forum that summarize aspects of inspiration, design, fabric picking to end products by six celebrated designers who are working hand in hand with four renowned furniture companies in manufacturing of six special edition sofas.
E-business is largely considered as crucial to future trends. Under this circumstance, the 1st Home Furniture E-commerce Ordering Meeting will be important in building connections between furniture exhibitors and big e-commerce online platforms, offering match-making opportunities for both suppliers and purchasers. And the other customized meetings will also be held during the exhibition: China Furniture Industrial Strategic Development Summit, U.S. - China Furniture Market & Industry Forum and Forum - Russia in Focus: Import and Investment Potential.
