When Showtime, High Point’s semi-annual fabric market, officially kicks off on June 1, 45 Chinese textile companies also will open for business in the International Pavilions.

Featuring new fabric constructions, artificial leathers and home textiles, the companies in the International Pavilions in the Suites at Market Square represent a growing international presence at Showtime, and company representatives and show officials say the partnership is a win-win collaboration for the textile and furniture industries.

“We’re very excited that people see the value of Showtime,” said Art Reilly, the 2014-15 president of the International Textile Market Assn. “This is the largest number of companies we’ve had in the International Pavilions to date, and I believe 10 or 11 of the companies are returning companies. As an association, what we love to see is the continued growth in this area of the show and the wide variety of customers from around the world, making us a truly international market.”

Al Bolton is the special project consultant for International Market Centers concentrating on Showtime and the International Pavilions. He said the exhibiting companies in the pavilions bring added value to the show.

“Many of these international exhibitors are looking for business partnerships in the U.S. market,” Bolton said. “One of their highest priorities is finding agents and sales reps to pioneer their lines in the North American market.”

Showtime is the one most important show of its kind in North America, according to Bolton. “There is nothing else like it, and these companies bring buyers an increased selection across the full fabric selection range. They represent 45 new sources — many with brand new co-designed and created products.”

Bill Wang is with South Pacific Textile USA. The company will introduce more than 100 new fabric SKUs at the June Showtime.

“We are looking for partners in the U.S. market and to establish long-term business relationships,” Wang said. “We offer two advantages — one, we have mills in China to manufacture and supply high-quality fabrics. Two, we have already set up a warehouse and showroom in High Point to stock goods and display the products, so sales representatives can show our fabric samples to their customers. The goods can be delivered from High Point or China.”

Wujiang Wanshida Textile is showing for the second time in June. Manager Steve Shen said that the company will introduce 40 new SKUs.

“The U.S. market order quantity is much bigger than any other market in the world,” Shen said. “Our goal is that 50% of our sales can be supplied to the U.S. market; now, we have about 30%. We are one of the first companies to do foreign trade in our area and what we focus on most is quality and delivery time.”

Hangzhou Xinhong Fabric is attending Showtime for the second time and introducing between 60 and 80 SKUs. Company officials said that ship time is 35 to 45 days, depending on construction, and that natural fibers, linens and cottons will be shown in the mid-to-high end range.

Shaoxing Riyade Textiles is introducing four new groups in linen, velvet, jacquards and plains. The ship time is normally between 20 and 30 days.

“Our strong items are linen-look fabrics — plain or checks, stripes with a big range of colors, jacquard fabrics and velvets,” said Alice Zhan, the head of international business development for the company. “Our main markets have been Germany, Poland, the Middle East and China, and now we are expanding our business to the U.S.”

Novatex Hangzhou is headquartered in Italy and attended Showtime in December. Sales Manager Tina Yu said that the company is bringing 80 new SKUs to the June show.

“Novatex spa, our headquarters in Italy, supplies our customers with the newest designs and color lines,” Yu said. “Combined with Novatex Hangzhou’s efficient work, we offer reliable lead times, European standards and moderate price.”
